Specifications
The PIERRE Pro Power Supply 12V/2A (DIN, UPS) offers enhanced functionality compared to standard power supplies by including a UPS feature. This allows it to not only supply 12V DC power to smart home devices but also charge a backup battery, ensuring uninterrupted operation during power failures.
With an output of 40W and a current capacity of 2A, it is ideal for running and charging high-demand devices such as smart controllers, sensors, and other automation equipment. The input voltage range of 100-240V AC ensures global compatibility, while the efficient AC to DC conversion guarantees reliable power delivery.
Its DIN rail mounting design allows for easy installation into electrical panels, making it a robust solution for smart home environments that require continuous and stable power.

- Connect L and N terminals of the power supply to the AC mains (Live and Neutral).
- The DC output provides +5V and GND, which power the connected device.
- A rechargeable VRLA battery is connected in parallel with the DC output, with its + terminal to +5V, and – terminal to GND.
- This allows the battery to charge while mains power is available, and supply backup power during outages.
Power Supply with Battery Backup – Functional Description
This block diagram represents the internal structure of a power supply unit with battery backup functionality:
- EMI Filter & Rectifier: Filters out electromagnetic interference from the input and converts AC input into DC voltage.
- Power Switching: Converts and regulates the voltage through high-speed switching to achieve the desired output voltage.
- Rectifiers & Filter: Smooths and stabilizes the output voltage for the load.
- PWM Control: Controls the switching operation to maintain constant output using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM).
- O.L.P. (Over Load Protection): Protects the system by shutting down or limiting output when excessive load is detected.
- O.V.P. (Over Voltage Protection): Prevents damage by cutting the output if voltage exceeds safe limits.
- Detection Circuit: Monitors voltage and other parameters to trigger protective actions or status indicators.
- Battery Charger & Backup Control: Manages battery charging and automatically switches to battery power when main power fails.
- Alarm Circuit: Indicates system status such as:
- AC OK: Input power is normal.
- Bat. Low: Battery voltage is low.
- Output Terminals:
- +V / -V: Main output voltage to the load.
- Bat. + / Bat.-: Battery connection terminals.
This system ensures uninterrupted power supply to the connected devices and provides protection and monitoring features for safe and reliable operation.
- Load (%)
- Ambient Temperature (°C)
- Load (%)
- Input Voltage (V) 60Hz
- All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load and 25°C of ambient temperature.
- Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire
terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor. - Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
- Length of set up time is measured at cold first start. Turning ON/OFF the power supply may lead to increase of the set up time.
- The power supply is considered a component which will be installed into a final equipment.
The final equipment must be re-confirmed that it still meets EMC directives. For guidance on how to perform these EMC tests, please refer to "EMI testing of component power supplies.” - Installation clearances : 40mm on top, 20mm on the bottom, 5mm on the left and right side are recommended
when loaded permanently with full power. In case the adjacent device is a heat source, 15mm clearance is recommended. - The ambient temperature derating of 3.5C/1000m with fanless models and of 5C/1000m with fan
models for operating altitude higherthan 2000m(6500ft).
